Acest sfînt Acachie a dus o viata de mari nevointe monahicesti în locul nasterii sale, adica în cetatea Melitina din Armenia. Vesnicul întru pomenire Otrie, episcopul acelui loc, care fusese unul din Parintii de la Soborul al Doilea a toata lumea de la Constantinopol (din anul 381), 1-a hirotonit preot pe Acachie. Dupa moartea lui Otrie, Acachie a fost ridicat de obste, cu o gura si cu un glas, episcop în locul lui. El a participat la rîndul lui la Sinodul al Treilea a toata lumea (de la Efes, din anul 431), cel în care a fost dat anatemei Nestorie, care hulea pe Maica lui Dumnezeu, în acest sinod, Sfîntul Acachie împreuna cu Sfîntul Chirii al Ierusalimului au luptat cu rîvna pentru pastrarea puritatii Ortodoxiei. Sfîntul Acachie era plin de darul Duhului Sfînt si era facator de minuni. Dupa o viata plina de faptele rîvnei pentru Sfînta Credinta, Sfîntul Acachie a adormit cu pace în anul 435.
