Vasilisa si Anastasia erau din Roma, împodobite cu toata evlavia si rîvna pentru Sfînta Credinta, în timpul împaratiei lui Nero, ele adunau trupurile ucise ale mucenicilor si ucenicilor apostolilor si le îngropau cu cinste. Pentru aceasta ele au fost denuntate, arestate si aruncate în închisoare. Dupa torturi prelungite, în care li s-au taiat sînii si limba, ele au fost decapitate.
