Sfîntul Nil a fost unul din marii parinti ai Bisericii Ruse. El a fost întemeietorul vietii monahale de schit în Rusia. El a adormit cu pace la anul 1508. Sfintele lui moaste odihnesc în Mînastirea Sora. Pravila sa pentru viata monahilor traitori în schituri este o lucrare de ordin practic si contemplativ de prim rang în cadrul tezaurului scrierilor patristice din toate timpurile.
