lacov a suferit mult pentru apararea sfintelor icoane, sub Leon Armeanul. El era monah din obstea Mînastirii Studitilor din Constantinopol. Cînd Teodor cel Mare Studitul a fost alungat în exil, pe lacov 1-au torturat cumplit în scopul de a-1 face sa se lepede de cinstirea icoanelor. lacov a ramas însa pîna la sfîrsit neclintit în credinta lui. Batut si torturat, el a fost în final trimis înapoi la mînastirea lui, dupa ce raul împarat Leon Armeanul rau a pierit. Sfîntul Teodor a si murit la scurt timp dupa întoarcerea lui la mînastire, din cauza batailor si torturilor suferite. Asa s-a mutat acest sfînt la locasurile cele ceresti, ajungînd împreuna locuitor cu cetatenii cerului.
