Acesti sfinti au fost catesitrei ucenici ai sfantului apostol Petru. Si inca de pe cand umbla Hristos cu trupul pe pamant si facea minuni, Marcel auzind, s-a dus de la Antiohia la Ierusalim, impreuna cu Pangratiu, ca sa-L vada. Pangratiu de atunci facandu-se cunoscut sfantului Petru, dupa inaltarea lui Hristos, i-a urmat lui Petru si, fiind facut de acesta episcop al Tavromeniei si slujitor al lui Hristos, a fost omorat pe ascuns de eleni. Iar Marcel, fiind hirotonisit de asemenea episcop al Siciliei si pe multi din necredinciosi intorcandu-i catre Domnul, s-a savarsit din viata. Tot astfel si Filagriu, ajungand arhiereu la Cipru, si invatand si acolo in numele lui Hristos si multe chinuri suferind pentru adevarata credinta, s-a mutat catre Domnul.
