Acest sfant a trait pe vremea imparatiei lui Iraclie, si a fost arhiepiscop al Alexandriei, inainte de sfantul Ioan cel milostiv. El a facut multe minuni, printre care si pe aceasta: preacuviosul papa Leon, scriind pentru Sinodul din Calcedon Epistola ortodoxiei, iar cuviosul Evloghie citind-o, nu numai ca a laudat-o si a primit-o, ci si tuturor a propovaduit-o. Dumnezeu vrand sa-i mangaie pe amandoi, a trimis inger in chipul arhidiaconului lui Leon, multumind sfantului Evloghie ca a primit aratata epistola. Iar Evloghie vorbea cu ingerul lui Dumnezeu, ca si cu un om, socotindu-l ca este diaconul papii. Si dupa ce ingerul s-a facut nevazut de la el, acesta multumind si mai mult lui Dumnezeu pentru minune, in mainile Sale si-a dat sufletul.
