Fecioara Thessalonika a fost fiica unui preot păgîn, pe nume Cleon, care era foarte bogat. Din pricina neclintitei ei credinţe în Hristos, tatăl ei a izgonit-o din casă şi din cetate. Doi cetăţeni de frunte ai oraşului, pe nume Auct şi Tavrion, 1-au înfierat pe Cleon pentru fapta lui mîrşavă, pentru a-şi fi dat astfel la chin greu propria fiică. Atunci idolescul popă i-a denunţat pe cei doi cetăţeni, sub acuza că sînt creştini. Ei au fost torturaţi bestial şi decapitaţi pentru credinţa lor în Hristos. Thessalonika a fost prinsă, torturată şi ucisă şi ea. Cei trei au luat mucenicia în oraşul macedonean Amfipoli, care se afla în apropiere de Kavala de astăzi. Astfel, prin mucenicia lor, aceşti trei sfinţi s-au învrednicit împărţiei celei Nepieritoare a lui Hristos Domnul.
