Acesta a fost un mare rîvnitor al Ortodoxiei, iar de meserie a fost postăvar, în timpul prigoanelor împotriva creştinilor declanşate de Diocleţian, acest dumnezeiesc bărbat a venit înaintea judecătorului ce se afla în cetatea Solin, din Dalmaţia, şi a mărturisit tare înaintea tuturor credinţa lui în Hristos. El a fost pentru aceasta torturat bestial şi ucis, iar trupul lui aruncat în mare. Dar o femeie evlavioasă a aflat sfinte moaştele lui şi le-a îngropat cu cinste.
