La început Zoe a fost prostituata, cea care 1-a ispitit mai întîi pe Sfîntul Martinian. Cînd 1-a vazut pe nevoitor sarind în foc si arzîndu-si fara mila picioarele spre a lupta în contra patimii, ea s-a cait cu amar, si s-a retras într-o mînastire din Betleem unde a dus o viata de nevointa în zavorîre, luptînd cu vitejie pentru curatirea sufletului ei. Pocaindu-se de toate pacatele ei, Dumnezeu a miluit-o cu darul facerii de minuni. Din cauza vînturilor marii Sfînta Fotina a fost aruncata tocmai la stînca pe care se refugiase Sfîntul Martinian. Vazîndu-1 ca dupa ce a salvat-o s-a aruncat el în mare, Sfînta a hotarît ca acolo sa-si petreaca în post si în rugaciune tot restul zilelor ei, pîna la moarte, lucru care s-a si întîmplat.
