Atunci s-a arătat Sfîntul Serghei de Radonej Episcopului Arsenie care fusese aruncat în închisoare, şi i-a descoperit că Moscova se va elibera de lituanieni chiar a doua zi, prin intervenţia Preasfmtei Născătoare de Dumnezeu. Cu adevărat, lituanienii au părăsit de-a valma Moscova chiar a doua zi, iar trupele ruseşti au reintrat în cetate. Tot poporul cetăţii a căzut înaintea icoanei Preacuratei şi de Dumnezeu Născătoarei şi i-au mulţumit cu lacrimi de bucurie.
