Simţul Porfirie acesta s-a născut la Mimosa. Mai întîi el a fost saltimbancul personal al împărăratului Iulian Apostatul, pe care îl veselea cu jocul lui de mim, prin care îşi bătea joc de Credinţa Creştinilor şi de Sfintele Taine ale Bisericii. Astfel, odată, parodiind Sfînta Taină a Botezului , el s-a cufundat în apă şi a pronunţat cuvintele întru Numele Tatălui, al Fiului şi al Sfîntului Duh! Ieşind din acea apă, el a strigat: "Acum sînt Creştin!" Toată lumea a crezut că şi acum glumeşte, însă Porfirie nu a mai glumit. El a încetat să îşi mai bată joc de Creştinism, şi a luat moarte martirică pentru Hristos. El a fost decapitat la anul 361 şi s-a strămutat la locaşurile veşnice ale împărăţiei lui Dumnezeu.
