Sfintul Eutihie a fost unul dintre apostolii mai mici, iar locul naşterii lui a fost Sevastopolul. El a fost ucenicul Sfîntului loan Teologul şi al Sfîntului Apostol Pavel. Chiar dacă numele lui nu figurează printre numele Celor Şaptezeci, el cu toate acestea este socotit pe drept apostol, din pricină că a fost ucenic al Apostolilor celor Mari, şi din pricină că în munca lui apostolică el a dat dovadă de o rîvnă de foc. Sfintul Eutihie a fost sfinţit din capul locului să fie Apostol misionar, întru care sfîntă lucrare el a călătorit enorm şi a predicat neobosit. Pe el 1-a însoţit mereu un înger. El a primit pîine de la îngerul Domnului pe cînd se afla aruncat în temniţă. Cînd i-au strujit trupul cu unghii de fier, din el a curs sînge care a înmiresmat văzduhul tot de bunămireasmă. El a fost aruncat în foc şi înaintea fiarelor sălbatice, şi şi-a săvîrşit călătoria pămîntească în Sevastopolul natal, fiind omorît cu sabia.
