Acest Daniel a fost un mare nevoitor, întemeietorul unei vestite mînăstiri şi contemporanul Sfîntului loanichie cel Mare. El a fost de faţă cînd Sfîntul loanichie a cercetat Insula Thasos. Poporul 1-a rugat atunci cu lacrimi pe Sfîntul loanichie ca să le izbăvească insula de şerpi. Sfîntul s-a rugat lui Dumnezeu şi atunci din insulă au ieşit mulţime nenumărată de şerpi care s-au aruncat şi s-au înecat în mare.
