El a fost fiul lui Dionisie, senatorul. El a fost torturat bestial pentru Hristos, apoi aruncat în temniţă mai mult mort. Acolo a intrat la el îngerul Domnului care 1-a vindecat. Ieşind din temniţă, el şi-a împărţit toate averile lui: parte săracilor, parte celor care îl urau. El a fost apoi arestat din nou, şi a fost torturat bestial, zgîriindu-i-se trupul cu fiare, pînă cînd şi-a dat sufletul în mîinile Iui Dumnezeu. Din rănile lui în loc de sînge a curs lapte şi apă. El a luat mucenicia în timpul domniei lui Hadrian.
