Sfîntul Eudoxie a fost comandant în armata imperială romană. El a luat mucenicia pentru Hristos sub domnia lui Diocleţian. El a fost judecat şi torturat de guvernatorul cetăţii Melitene din Armenia, împreună cu el au fost chinuiţi şi prietenii lui, Zeno şi Macarie, împreună cu una mie şi o sută patru oşteni care fuseseră aduşi la Hristos de către Eudoxie. După moarte, Sfîntul Eudoxie s-a arătat soţiei lui, Vasilissa, care a rămas credinciosă lui Hristos pînă la suflerea ei cea mai de pe urmă, întru care s-a săvîrşit cu pace.
