Ca Episcop al Cordobei, Sfîntul Osie bine a păstorit Biserica Spaniei timp de peste şaizeci de ani. El a fost unul dintre Părinţii mari de la Sinodul întîi Ecumenic de la Niceea (anul 325 după Hristos), şi a prezidat Sinodul local de la Sardica (Sofia de astăzi, în Bulgaria) din anul 347. El a fost un mare zilot al Ortodoxiei, în vremurile în care Biserica era atacată din toate părţile de erezia lui Arie. Atît de rîvnitor a fost Sfîntul Episcop Osie pentru pentru Dreapta Credinţă, încît simţind că i se apropie sfârşitul, a mai dat o dată anatemei necurata erezie ariană.
