Vasilisa a fost o tînără în vîrstă de nouă ani. Ea a fost omorîtă prentru Credinţă la Nicomidia la scurtă vreme după uciderea Sfîntului Anthim, Arhiepiscopul cetăţii. Torţionarii au schingiuit-o bestial, transformîndu-i tot trupul într-o rană, dar ea i-a rămas credincioasă lui Hristos Dumnezeu. Dumnezeu însă a păzit-o întreagă pe muceniţa Lui, şi de foc şi de fiarele sălbatice, ceea ce 1-a făcut pe Alexandru, domnitorul Nicomidiei şi torţionarul ei, să cadă la picioarele ei, să se pocăiască şi să ceară de la ea îndurare. El a cerut să fie instruit în Sfînta Credinţă Creştină, a primit Sfîntul Botez din mîinile lui Antonie Episcopul, şi a murind înaintea Vasilisei, fiind îngropat de aceasta. Vasilisa după aceea a ieşit afară din cetate într-un cîmp, a căzut în genunchi, I-a mulţumit lui Dumnezeu şi s-a rugat Lui îndelung, şi şi-a dat sufletul întru ale Sale mîini25, la anul 309.
