împreună cu soţul ei, care era foarte bogat şi credincios, Cuvioasa Theodora a locuit în Insula Eghina. Cînd Eghina a fost ameninţată de arabi, ei s-au strămutat la Tesalonic. Acolo ei au aşezat-o pe unica lor fiică într-o mînăstire, unde tînăra s-a tuns în îngerescul chip sub numele de Theopista. La puţină vreme după aceasta soţul Theodorei a murit, iar Theodora a intrat şi ea în cinul monahal. Theodora a fost o mare ascetă. Ea auzea cîntările cereşti, şi zicea uneori către surorile ei: „Oare nu auziţi cît de minunat cîntă corurile de îngeri în altarul cel ceresc?" Preacuvioasa Theodora s-a săvîrşit cu pace către Domnul la anul 879, în vîrstă fiind de şaptezeci şi cinci de ani. Din sfintele ei moaşte a curs mir vindecător, care le-a fost de ajutor multora.
