Se pare ca acesti sfinti mucenici au fost cu siguranta de neam slav. Ei i-au slujit lui Dumnezeu în Tracia, unde au fost dati prima oara la chinuri pentru Hristos. Cînd pagînii s-au repezit sa puna foc la o biserica crestina, viteazul Filip a zis capeteniilor lor: „Oare credeti ca Dumnezeu sta aparat de acesti pereti? El locuieste în inimile noastre!" Pagînii au dat foc acelei biserici si au ars si sfintele carti. Clerul a fost însfacat si dus la Jedrene unde, dupa întemnitare si torturi bestiale, au fost aruncati pe jumatate arsi în Rîul Marita. Treizeci si opt de alti crestini au luat si ei moarte muceniceasca împreuna cu dînsii. Se crede ca acesti sfinti mucenici au luat cununa în timpul domniei lui Diocletian.
