Sfîntul Emilian s-a nascut în Armenia. Dorindu-si mucenicia pentru Hristos, el a mers în Italia ca sa predice Sfînta Evanghelia lui la Trevi, sub domnia raului împarat Diocletian. Acolo el a fost uns episcop al cetatii Trevi. Ca urmare a celor multe minune lucrate de el prin puterea Duhului Sfînt, în timp ce era schingiuit pentru Domnul, cam la o mie de pagîni dintre cei care stateau de fata au crezut în Hristos lisus si L-au marturisit atunci cu glas mare. Ei cu totii au fost omorîti pe loc prin sabie ca si Sfîntul Emilian, împreuna cu Sfîntul Ilarion, parintele lui duhovnicesc, si împreuna cu fratii duhovnicesti Dionisie si Hermippus.
