Acest sfint Acachie era din satul Neohorion de lînga Tesalonic. Maltratat cumplit de catre stapînul lui la Serres, Acachie a trecut la mahomedanism. Mai tîrziu, pocaindu-se cu amar si luînd asupra-si chipul monahicesc, al a vietuit la Muntele Athos la Mîntastirea Hilandar. Biata lui maica, o femeie saraca si iubitoare de Hristos, 1-a povatuit astfel: „Asa cum de buna voia ta te-ai lepadat de Domnul, asa acum trebuie tot de buna voia ta sa iei asupra-ti cu curaj mucenicia pentru El." Fiul a urmat sfatul maicii lui. Cu binecuvîntarea Parnitilor de la Sfîntul Munte, Acachie a calatorit la Constantinopole, unde turcii 1-au prins si i-au taiat capul în ziua întîia a lunii mai, în anul 1816. Sfîntul cap al acestui cuvios mucenic se pazeste în Mînastirea Sfîntul Pantelimon din Sfîntul Munte Athos.
