Aceasta Noua Mucenita s-a nascut la Brusa, din parinti binecredinciosi. De îndata ce Arghira s-a cununat dupa rînduiala cu un barbat crestin, un anume turc din vecinatate s-a aprins de necurata pofta fata de ea si a chemat-o cu nerusinare sa traiasca cu el. De Hristos iubitoarea Arghira a respins cu hotarîre murdara îndrazneala a necuratului turc. Acesta, turbat de ura, s-a dus si a clevetit-o la judecator, cum ca mai întîi ar fi vrut sa treaca la Islam dar mai apoi s-a razgîndit. Aceasta Sfînta Arghira a petrecut începînd cu acel ceas cincisprezece ani de temnita grea, fiind tîrîta din tribunal în tribunal, si din oras în oras, pentru ca nu a voit sa se lepede de credinta ei în Hristos, pre Carele L-a iubit mai presus decît orice pe pamînt. Ea la sfirsit a murit într-una din închisoarile din Constantinopol, la anul 1725.
