Sfantul Patrichie a vietuit in primul secol crestin, in cetatea Prusa din Asia. Ca episcop al acestei cetati, a convertit multe persoane la credinta in Hristos. In timpul imparatului Iulian Apostatul, Sfantul Patrichie a fost aruncat de pagani in ape fierbinti. Sfantul, fiind aruncat, a strigat: "Doamne Iisuse Hristoase, ajuta robului Tau!" Cand l-au aruncat si a cazut in apa, picaturile care au sarit din acel izvor i-au oparit pe cei de fata, in vreme ce el a iesit nevatamat. In urma acestei minuni, ighemonul Iulie a poruncit ostasilor sa il scoata pe Sfantul Patrichie din apa si sa-i taie capul cu toporul, asemeni si preotilor Acachie, Menandru si Polien.
