Nicolae acesta s-a nascut în Epira. El a fost schingiuit cu salbaticie de catre turci pentru credinta lui în Hristos, si omorît la Trikkala prin taierea capului, la anul 1617. O raclita cu sfîntul cap al acestui mucenic se pastreaza pîna astazi în una din mînastirile Meteorei, din Tesalia. La sfintele lui moaste se lucreaza minuni mari si se vindeca boli grele. El mai ales este chemat de credinciosi ca sa le alunge insectele daunatoare de pe ogoare.
