în anul 1087, în timpul domniei împaratului Alexie Comnenul, si cînd pe scaunul patriarhal se afla Nicolae Gramaticul, trupul acestui minunat sfînt a fost adus din Cetatea Mirelor din Lichia în orasul Bari din Italia. Acestea s-au întîmplat din cauza atacurilor musulmane asupra cetatii Mirelor Lichiei. Sfîntul s-a înfatisat în vis înaintea unui cinstit preot din Bari si i-a poruncit ca sfintele sale moaste sa fie aduse în acest oras. La acea vreme Bari era un oras Ortodox ce avea un Patriarh Ortodox, în timpul mutarii cinstitelor moaste multe minuni s-au lucrat, fie prin atingerea lor, fie de la mirul care iesea cu îmbelsugare din ele. Tot în aceasta zi se mai pomeneste si minunea pe care a lucrat-o Sfîntul Nicolae cu regele sîrb Stefan din Deceani. Aceasta a fost cînd Sfîntul Nicolae i-a dat înapoi vederea Regelui Stefan.
