Sever a locuit în Itlia se mijloc si a fost un barbat foarte sfînt. Odata a fcst chemat sa marturiseasca un om pe moarte, si sa-1 împartaseasca cu Sfintele Taine. El însa, obosit din pricina ca muncise la vie, a ajuns prea tîrziu, cînd omul deja murise. Parîndu-i cumplit de rau si temîndu-se cumplit, caci socotea ca el îl ucisese pe om, Sever a început sa se roage fierbinte lui Dumnezeu ca sa învie omul, ca sa-1 poata marturisi si cumineca, asa cum i se ceruse. Dumnezeu a ascultat ruga preotului sau celui bun. Asa, Preotul Sever a ascultat marturisirea omului, 1-a împartasit cu Sfintele Taine si, pregatindu-i sufletul pentru ceasul mortii, 1-a lasat. Omul acela, dupa opt zile, a murit la loc.
