Acest Sfînt David s-a nascut la Tesalonic. El mai întîi s-a nevoit în apropiere de cetatea Tesalonicului, într-o chilie pe care si-a zidit-o sub un migdal. Apoi, el si-a continuat nevointele în Tesalia. Atît de mult si-a curatit sufletul lui cu postul, cu rugaciunea si cu privegherea, încat s-a învrednicit de mari masuri ale harului lui Dumnezeu. El odata a luat în palmele sale goale carbuni aprinsi, a presarat pe ei tamîie si astfel 1-a tamîiat pe împaratul, fara nici o ranire a mîinilor lui. Vazînd aceasta, împaratul s-a închiat adînc pîna la pamînt înaintea lui. Poporul era pururea în uimire vazînd marile si multele lui minuni. El s-a odihnit cu pace si s-a stramutat la cerestile locasuri la anul 540 dupa Hristos.
