El dupa aceea a întemeiat propria lui mînastire de-a lungul vaii Rîului Luza, în tinutul Vologda. El a vietuit foarte aspru, astfel încît, cu puterea Duhului Sfînt, curatindu-si trupul si sufletul, s-a facut locas Sfîntului Har. El a fost un luminator duhovnicesc al oamenilor, atragînd pre multi la viata monahala. El s-a numit «Ustnedumsk» pentru ca odata, cînd 1-a muscat un sarpe otravitor, el nu a spus nimanui depsre aceasta, nici nu s-a gîndit la acest lucru, si cu toate acestea a ramas viu. Placîndu-i lui Dumnezeu, Cuviosul Leonid a adormit cu pace în saptesprezece zile ale lunii iulie, din anul 1653. Sfintele lui moaste odihnesc în mînastire de el întemeiata.
