Acest sfînt Stefan era var primar cu Sfîntul loan Damaschinul. El bine s-a nevoit întru monahicestile lupte în Mînastirea Sfîntului Sava cel Sfintit, pentru care s-a si numit «Savaitul». El a fost un mare urmator si propovaduitor al vietii Sfîntului Sava, si o faclie luminoasa tuturor monahilor din Palestina. El s-a odihnit în Domnul la anul 794, întru al saizeci si noualea an al vietii sale.
