Aceasta Veronica este femeia cu scurgerea de sînge pe care a vindecat-o Domnul (Matei 9:20). Din mare recunostinta fata de Stapînul si Vindecatorul, Veronica a poruncit sa i se ridice o statuie a Mîntuitorului, înaintea careia ea se închina lui Dumnezeu. Potrivit traditiei, aceasta statuie s-a pastrat pîna în vremea lui Iulian Apostatul, care a îndraznit sa o modifice, astfel încît sa semene cu idolul lui Zeus. Aceasta statuie exemplifica rarele cazuri de folosire a reprezentarilor statuare în Sfînta Biserica Ortodoxa din Rasarit. Dupa cum se stie, redarea chipurilor persoanelor dumnezeiesti si a persoanelor sfinte prin statuar a devenit ulterior practica prin excelenta a bisericii romano-catolice în apus. Sfînta Veronica s-a închinat Domnului si Dumnezeului ei si al nostru lisus Hristos pîna la sfirsitul vietii ei, care a fost cu pace.
