Theodor si loan erau tata si fiu din neamul varegilor. Dupa ce au primit Sfîntul Botez, ei s-au salasluit în cetatea pagîneasca a Kievului. Paginii cei salbatici le-au darîmat casa peste ei, si asa au pierit amîndoi pentru credinta lor în Hristos. Sfintele lor moaste odihnesc la Mînastirea Pesterilor din Kiev. Oamenii le aduc rugaciuni mai ales atunci cînd sînt familii fara copii sau cînd femeile sînt în primejdie sa piarda sarcina.
