Acesti sfinti mucenici s-au nascut în cetatea Kallippi [Caliptul] din Asia, Proclu fiindu-i lui Ilarie unchi. Ei au luat mucenicia în timpul domniei împaratului Traian. „Care este neamul tau?" 1-a întrebat judecatorul pe Proclu. Iar Procul i-a zis: „Neamul meu este Hristos, iar nadejdea mea Dumnezeu." Cînd judele 1-a amenintat cu schingiuirile, Proclu a zis: „Daca tu, judecatoriile, te temi sa nu calci porunca împaratului tau, de frica mortii acesteia trupesti cu care esti amenintat, oare cu cît mai mult nu sîntem datori noi crestinii sa ne temem a calca porunca lui Dumnezeu, de frica sa nu cadem în moartea cea vesnica!" în vreme ce Proclu era torturat, Ilarie a venit înaintea judecatorului si i-a zis: „Si eu sînt Crestin." Dupa torturi prelungite, ei au fost amîndoi osînditi la moarte: Proclu a fost rastignit pe o cruce iar Ilarie a fost decapitat. Astfel unchi si nepot au intrat în bucuria cea vesnica a Domnului lor.
