Sfîntul Zosima s-a nascut în satul Synada, în apropiere de Tir. Acolo el a vietuit într-o mînastire, întru toate nevointele calugaresti. Avînd constiinta nepatata, el vedea lucrurile de la departare, în duh, si cunostea ce se întîmpla în lume. Astfel, el a prezis si a vazut distrugerea Antiohiei prin cutremur si, plîngînd cu amar, s-a închinat la pamînt si s-a rugat lui Dumnezeu ca aceasta cetate sa nu se distruga cu desavîrsire. S-a întîmplat odata ca un leu care bîntuia prin acele locuri i-a prins si i-a ucis catîrul care îi aducea apa. Sfîntul i-a poruncit atunci leului ca sa slujeasca el în locul catîrului, ducînd sarcina. Leul s-a facut blînd ca un miel înaintea batrînului si a dus acea sarcina pîna la portile Cezareei, unde Avva Zosima i-a dat drumul sa plece. Sfîntul Zosima a adormit cu pace în veacul al saselea.
