Vassian si lona au fost monahi în Mînastirea Solovki. Ei s-au înecat si au fost adusi de ape la tarm în anul 1651. La mormintele lor au început sa apara semne mari, si din aceasta pricina, acolo s-a înaltat o sfmta biserica. Pe acel loc dupa vreme s-a întemeiat Mînastirea Pertominsk. Odata, cînd Tarul Petru cel Mare a fost salvat dintr-o furtuna la locul unde fusesera sfintii adusi de ape la tarm, el a ramas în acel loc timp de trei zile, a facut o cruce si a înaltat-o acolo, pe mal.
