însetatul de nelegiuire Boris Godunov 1-a omorît cu perfidie si prin tradare pe copilul Dimitri cel în vîrsta de opt ani, în cetatea Uglich, la anul 1591. Dupa moartea lui, Dimitri i-a aparut unui monah în vedenie si a prorocit ca un fals Dimitri se va ridica si va aduce pieirea ucigasului, Boris Godunov, ceea ce s-a si întîmplat. Multime de minuni s-au lucrat la sfintele moaste ale Tareviciului Dimitri. Dupa cincisprezece ani sfintele moaste s-au aflat întregi si neputrezite. Ele au fost aduse cu slava si evlavie la Moscova si îngropate în Biserica Simtului Arhanghel Mihail.
