Acest sfînt ierarh Terapont a adus pre multi elini la Credinta în Hristos, din care pricina a fost chinuit salbatic cu înfometarea, întemnitarea si biciuirea. Chinuitorii 1-au întins pe sfintitul barbat gol la pamînt, 1-au legat de patru cioate uscate, si 1- au biciuit cu cruzime pîna cînd carnea trupului se desprindea de oase. Dar cu toate acestea mucenicul lui Hristos nu a murit, iar cele patru cioate uscate au înverzit din ele crescînd patru arbori falnici de la care multi bolnavi îsi luau vindecarea. La urma sfintitul Terapont a fost junghiat si hacuit ca un miel fara de glas, iar sfmtsfintitul sau suflet s-a stramutat întru cereasca împaratie spre a privi vesnic slava lui Dumnezeu. Sfîntul Sfintit Mucenic Terapont a luat cu cinste mucenicia cam pe la anul 259, în timpul lui Valerian.
