Daca Sfintul Constantin cel Mare a desfiintat persecutiile contra crestinilor, Sfîntul Teodosie a mers mai departe: el a scos în afara legii închinarea la idoli pe tot cuprinsul împaratiei sale. El a lucrat pentru întarirea si raspîndirea credintei crestine pe întinsul întregului pamînt.
