Acesti sfinti mucenici au luptat muceniceste pe vremea imparatului Diocletian, a lui Maximian si a lui Lisie Duca. Valerian, Candid si Achila ascunzandu-se in muntii Trapezuntei, Lisie i-a prins. Si marturisind ei pe Hristos, Lisie i-a exilat intr-o mica cetate din tinutul Lazichiei, numita Pitius. De acolo fiind adusi la Trapezunt si infatisati lui Lisie au fost supusi la multe chinuri si apoi au fost inchisi. Dupa cateva zile, prinzand si pe Evghenie l-au batut cu cruzime, apoi a fost dus impreuna cu dregatorul in templul idolilor, unde sfantul rugandu-se, au cazut toti idolii si s-au zdrobit ca praful. Pentru aceasta a fost si el supus la chinuri. Apoi toti sfintii fiind bagati intr-un cuptor aprins si ramanand nevatamati, au fost omorati cu sabia.
