Acest sfânt mucenic era ostas din ceata Mavrilor, în timpul împaratiei lui Diocletian. Si neplecându-se sa aduca jertfa idolilor, i s-a luat cingatoarea ostaseasca si vrednicia pe care o avea si a fost batut pâna la sânge. Dar el a rabdat si n-a scos nici un cuvânt, încât a mirat si a înspaimântat pe împarat. Pentru aceasta a fost si mai mult chinuit si apoi a fost aruncat în temnita. Si dupa opt zile, si-a dat în mâinile lui Dumnezeu cinstitul sau suflet, iar din trupul lui s-a raspândit multa mireasma.
