Acest sfânt Zosima era din Cilicia şi vieţuia în pustiu la un loc cu fiarele. Fiind prins de tiranul Domiţian şi mărturisind că Hristos este Dumnezeu adevărat, i s-au ars urechile cu fiare înroşite. A fost aruncat într-un cazan plin de murdării clocotite şi apoi spânzurat cu capul în jos. Dar, în chip minunat, a răbdat toate. Pe când altă dată era chinuit, s-a arătat un leu, care cu glas omenesc a vorbit despre Dumnezeirea lui Hristos. Minunea aceasta a adus la credinţa creştină pe Atanasie Comentarisiul. Mai târziu Zosima fiind slobozit de tiran s-a dus iarăşi în pustiu, luând cu el şi pe Atanasie, pe care l-a catehizat şi l-a botezat. Acolo amândoi au trăit în crăpătura unei stânci, unde şi-au dat sufletele lor în mâinile lui Dumnezeu.
