Sfantul Procopie Decapolitul, dupa cum ne arata numele sau, era din partile Decapolei, regiune situata langa Marii Galileii. Inca de tanar a imbratisat viata monahala. Sfantul Procopie s-a afirmat ca aparator al icoanelor in timpul perioadei iconoclaste din vremea imparatului Leon Isaurul. Din aceast motiv, Procopie a fost arestat si torturat cu salbaticie. Dupa moartea imparatului Leon, avand loc reabilitarea cultului sfintelor icoane in Biserica, Sfantul Procopie s-a intors la viata sihastreasca, unde a vietuit pana la o varsta inaintata. Sfantul Procopie a trecut la Domnul in veacul al IX-lea.
