Acesta a fost de la Tesalonic. Fiind Maximian acolo, când îşi făcea curţi împărăteşti, l-a prins aflându-l că este creştin, şi aducându-l de faţă la judecata lui i-a zis cu mânie: "Pentru ce fiind eu în scaun aici în cetate, cutezi tu de mărturiseşti pe alt Dumnezeu? Ci de voieşti să trăieşti, jertfeşte zeilor". Iar sfântul nevrând să se înduplece, împăratul a poruncit de i s-a strunjit trupul. Maximian văzând că se batjocorea de sfântul, a poruncit să-l scoată afară din cetate, unde îi zdrobiră fluierele şi tăindu-i picioarele, după şapte zile de chinuri, mucenicul mulţumind lui Dumnezeu şi-a dat Lui fericitul său suflet.
