Sfintul Chirii se nascuse în Antiohia si fusese ucenic al Sfîntului Apostol Petru. El a fost pastor minunat al turmei sale. El primise darul sa lucreze minuni mari cu rugaciunea. Asa a fost minunea cu apa cea amara, care nu se putea bea. în acel loc, vara, nu curgea nici un fel de alta apa, dar prin rugaciuni el a preschimbat aceasta apa amara în apa dulce, buna de baut. Sfîntul Chirii a adormit cu pace.
