Sfantul Sabin a trait in vremea imparatului Diocletian (284-305). Era originar din Ermuopole (Egipt). Din cauza persecutiilor impotriva crestinilor, Sfantul Sabin se va retrage in munti impreuna cu alti crestini. Un cersator, care primea hrana de la Sfantul Sabin, il va vinde slujitorilor de idoli, precum a facut Iuda cu Hristos, pe doi galbeni. A fost dus inaintea tribunalului nelegiuirii cu alti sase crestini. Pentru ca nu a lepadat credinta in Hristos, a fost strapuns cu unghii de fier, ars si apoi inecat intr-un rau, luand in acest fel, cununa muceniciei.
