Acest de Dumnezeu-purtator si mare Sfînt Parinte al Bisericii s-a nascut în Galatia din Paflagonia. Sfîntul Simeon a primit educatie aleasa si înalta la Constantinopol, iar apoi a fost curtean imperial, din suita împaratilor Vasile si Constantin Porfirogenetul. Dar Sfîntul Simeon a parasit toate pentru Hristos si s-a retras într-o mînastire. El a dus o viata de aspre nevointe sub îndrumarea Batrînului Simeon, dupa care a ajuns sa fie staretul Mînastirii Sfîntului Mamas, iar la sfîrsit, zavorît. El este cel mai mare teolog al Bisericii de dupa Sfîntul Grigorie Teologul. Sfîntul Simeon simtea Harul lui Dumnezeu în inima. Cuvintele lui sînt descoperiri dumnezeiesti si duhovnicesti adevarate, cu adevarat teologice. El a murit la anul 1032 dupa Hristos, iar sfintele lui moaste sînt facatoare de minuni.
