Sfîntul Isihie s-a nascut lînga orasul Brusa, în veacul al optulea. El apoi s-a retras în muntele Maion, temut si vestit pentru multimea duhurilor necurate care se salasluiau acolo. Acolo Isihie si-a cladit o coliba si un paraclis închinat Sfîntului Apostol Andrei. El le-a împrejmuit cu o gradina pe care o cultiva ca sa se hraneasca din lucrul mîinilor lui. Cu rugaciunea, Sfîntul Isihie facea multe minuni. El a prorocit ca dupa moartea lui pe acel loc se va ridica o mînastire. El a stiut cu o luna mai înainte ziua si ceasul mortii lui. La miezul noptii acelei zile, unii oameni au vazut cum chilia lui s-a umplut de o lumina neobisnuita. Cînd au sosti la coliba, 1-au gasit pe sfînt deja mort. Sfîntul Isihie a adormit cu pace, fiind primit în împaratia Cereasca a Domnului Sau la anul 790 dupa Hristos. Mai tîrziu, Teofilact, Episcopul Amasiei, a mutat sfintele sale moaste în cetatea Amasia.
