Acest sflnt a fost frate începator aflat sub îndrumarea duhovniceasca a unui sfintit parinte din Mînastirea Vatopedu din Sfîntul Munte Atos. Prins de pirati, Agapie a fost vîndut ca sclav în Magnezia. Dupa doisprezece ani, el a scapat prin minune dumnezeiasca din sclavie, prin interventia Preasfintei Nascatoare de Dumnezeu, si dus înapoi în Mînastirea Vatopedu. în sclavia lui el reusise sa-1 aduca pe stapînul lui la Sfîntul Botez, caruia i s-a facut si îndrumator duhovnicesc. Sfîntul Agapie si-a petrecut cealalta vreme a vietii lui în nevointele cele calugaresti la Mînastirea Vatopedu, dupa care a adormit cu pace în Domnul.
