El s-a nascut în Apamea Siriei. El a fost egumenul Obstii Achimitilor [celor care niciodata nu dorm] din Constantinopol. El a fost stravazator cu duhul, vindecator al bolilor si mare facator de minuni. El a grait cu îngerii si a calcat cu putere peste toata puterea diavolilor. Dupa moartea lui, Sfintul Marcel s-a aratat Sfîntului Lucian celui din Obstea lui si i-a descoperit ca L-a rugat pe Dumnezeu sa îl aduca [pe Sfintul Lucian] în împaratia Cerurilor curînd. Acest barbat dumnezeiesc s-a savîrsti catre vesnica viata la anul 486.
