Sfînta Lucia a mers cu mama ei la mormîntul Sfintei Mucenite Agata din Catania, unde i s-a aratat ei Sfînta Agata. Mama Sfintei Lucia, care era bolnava de idropica, s-a vindecat desavîrsit la Sfintele Moaste ale Mucenitei Agata, în urma acestei minuni Sfînta Lucia si-a împartit toate averile saracilor, ceea ce 1-a facut pe logodnicul ei sa o urasca; de aceea el s-a dus si a denuntat-o pe Lucia înaintea judecatoruliu Paschasie, aratîndu-i ca este crestina. Ticalosul jude a poruncit ca sfinta sa fie dusa la o casa de desfrînare ca sa o necinsteasca. Dar prin puterea lui Dumnezeu ea a ramas înfipta la locul ei, fara ca nimeni sa o poata clinti de acolo, desi au luptat multi116. Atunci necuratul pagîn i-a strapuns gîtul cu sabia, si asa si-a dat Sfînta Lucia mucenicescul ei suflet în mîinile lui Dumnezeu, stramutîndu-se la locasurile cele slavite gatite ei de Domnul. Sfînta Mucenita Lucia Fecioara a fost martirizata în anul 304.
