Acest sfânt mucenic Teopempt a fost episcop, în zilele împăratului Diocleţian, la anii 290. Şi ridicând Diocleţian prigoană asupra creştinilor, Teopempt a fost cel dintâi care a mărturisit că Hristos este Dumnezeu. Fiind prins şi vădind în faţa împăratului înşelăciunea idolească, a fost aruncat într-un cuptor cu foc, i-au scos apoi un ochi şi i-au dat otravă. Rămânând în viaţă după toate acestea şi aducând la credinţă în Hristos pe fermecătorul Teona, care îi dăduse otrava, a fost supus la alte chinuri şi în cele din urmă i-au tăiat capul. Astfel s-a încununat cu cununa muceniciei. Iar pe sfântul Teona, care fusese fermecător şi crezuse, l-au aruncat într-o groapa şi l-au împresurat cu pământ. Şi aşa şi-a dat sufletul în mâna lui Dumnezeu.
